The Rolla Regional Amateur Radio Society was asked to

provide communications support at the Berryman Campground

for the Ozarks Trail 100-Mile Endurance Run,

in which runners navigate a trail 100 miles in length through

the hills. The run lasted from 6:00 AM Saturday until Sunday

afternoon.

.

The aid station number 11 at Berryman campground outside

of Steelville, MO consisted of a pavilion manned by several

volunteers who set up food and supplies for the runners as

they arrive. The radio station consisted of a 2-meter

mobile transciever and 5/8-wave ground-plane antenna on

a push-up pole, and a 5-Watt Yaesu FT-817 transceiver with

G5RV for QRP HF operations. Both stations were powered

by deep-cycle batteries.
