This afternoon we installed the new repeater antenna at the
top of the Medical Office Building (MOB) at the Phelps County
Regional Medical Center (PCRMC).
.
Helping with the installation were Ron (KD0IEK), Jeff (KD0JLM)
Kevin (hospital facilities employee), Peter (WB9KHR),
Steve (N6RHQ), and Joe (K0OG). Prior to today's project,
Ron and Kevin pulled the coaxial cable (Times Microwave
LMR-400, solid core/100% shielded low-loss cable), mounted
the antenna attachment mast on the building chiller unit on
the roof, and mounted the repeater and resonator cabinets
in the utility room just below the antenna location on the roof.
.
The antenna is a Comet GP-9N, 8.5 dBi gain on 2m, dual-band
2m/70cm vertical, about 19-feet tall, with ground-plane
radials. When the 147.210 MHz repeater currently at Peter's
house (WB9KHR) is moved to the MOB, it will be renamed
W0GS/H, and should provide solid handheld coverage in Rolla
and most of Phelps County, and reliable mobile coverage for
at least a 30-mile radius around Rolla. As it is currently, it
will continue to be linked at all times to 146.790 MHz (W0GS/R)
located just outside Dixon, MO, about 20 miles due west of
Rolla. This complex of repeaters will provide continuous W0GS
coverage from Lebanon to Cuba (or possibly Sullivan) for
mobile stations along Interstate-44.
.
This repeater complex will be useful in Emergency Operations
Planning for the PCRMC and Region I inter-hospital
communications during emergencies.
.
The RRARS thanks the administration and individual personnel
at PCRMC for their excellent support of this repeater project.
